"10/10 A truly fantastic (camp) site. The grounds are exquisite; a flat very well kept grassy site surrounded by a protective belt of trees with a totem pole. The showers and loos are superb and the facilities include kettle and sink with a large selection of basics that can be bought through the honesty box. Also a little cafe on site in the main house which we did not use but given the quality of everything else on offer I'm sure would be superb"

"Perfect Is it possible to give 20 stars? This place would get it! We finished the walk here at Bowness and I'm SO glad we chose Wallsend to stay at to celebrate the end of the walk. The guest house is absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable, and there were so many friendly furry friends to welcome us (cats and dogs, not bugs :p). The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was, without a doubt, the best part. It was spacious, beautiful, and SO comfortable. The beds were absolutely what we needed after the hike. The best part was the enormous bathtub, muscle soothing bubble bath for use, and the cushioned tiles in the bathroom. They truly thought of everything. It was the absolute best end to the hike we could have ever hoped for. They were kind enough to drive us back to Carlisle so we could train to our next destination which sure made that part of it so much easier. Loved everything about this place!"

"End of the wall walk We spent two nights there and I wish it could have been more. They were very welcoming. The fire place was burning in the living area, the rooms were spotless and the bathroom was large and well stocked with everything a weary traveler would need. The owners are delightful as our their dogs and cats. The breakfast was great and the soup and scones were just fantastic. I definitely would like to return. It was a really great place"

"Great start to our walk We stayed here for our first night at the start of our Hadrian's wall walk about ten days ago, the owner picked us up at Carlisle station, and gave us a nice rundown of the area, even pointing out the ally-way we needed to walk up to to see the official start of the walk The guest house is first class, we were given a nice cuppa when we arrived, then shown up to our lovely room with a nice comfortable bed and a great shower, A nice pub is a minutes walk away with great food. Be the end of your walk or like us the start, this is a great place to stay"

"Wow amazing place highly recommended We took a drive out from Carlisle to discover this area & we came across this place. Beautiful setting old house kept really well tasteful, very good fresh food. Would stay here in b&b or wigwams. Lunch was really good simple fresh & tasty"

"Lovely quiet place in a perfect location We stayed in one of the Wigwams (pods) last week and absolutely loved it. There was myself, my husband and our 2 young boys who found the whole experience very exciting. The Wigwam was equipped to a high standard and everything was lovely and clean. Having an ensuite was perfect with 2 young children, this is definitely my type of camping!! We found the Wigwam big enough for the 4 of us to sleep and enjoyed the piece and quiet. Lyn was more than welcoming and put together a lovely breakfast hamper for us at our request. I forgot to take our pillows but this was no problem as Lyn was on hand to help. The rest of the staff were lovely too, very helpful and friendly. Our boys loved running around the grounds and playing frisbee on the green which was in the middle of the Wigwams, perfect for keeping an eye on them from our little deck. There was a separate shower block/toilet block which also included a small kitchen areas, washing machines & honesty snack bar. Would recommend this place to anyone and will hopefully be visiting again. Thank you for our stay we rally enjoyed ourselves"

"Great location and a Great Stay. We visited Wallsend for a couple of nights in August 18, we chose this based on the quieter rural location. We stayed in a wigwam which was brilliant, having a tv, private shower and even a fridge & cooking facilities all in the wigwam was ideal for us. We travelled with our 2 small dogs, there was adequate room in the wigwam for us all. Be sure to ask for the wigwam with the dog pen attached if your travelling with a dog, the extra space makes all of the difference. We ordered the continental breakfast pack which was ready waiting for us in the wigwam, however decided to upgrade to the full cooked breakfast in the tea room, we were not disappointed, the best breakfast in Town. Be sure to visit the tea room for lunch, we precooked afternoon tea which was brilliant, an amazing selection of finger sandwiches and cakes at a very good price. There are also treats and drinks to buy in the tea room for use in the wigwam. The area is very quaint as quite ideal for a walking holiday especially if your not one for camping and prefer a wigwam. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff were all to helpful. Will certainly be back next summer"

"Great Start Wallsend represented the beginning of our trek of Hadrian’s Wall and this was a great start. After a train ride to Carlisle from London and then a taxi to Bowness, we were welcomed and offered an afternoon lunch. Following a quick walk around the village and later dinner at the Kings Arms, we settled into our very comfortable room. The sleep was perfect and we were provided an excellent hearty breakfast to get us going on our day’s 15 mile walk back to Carlisle. The owners were very nice and welcoming. We highly recommend this B&B"

"Great Welcome and Start of Walk Beautiful house and a great welcome as we checked in, ready to start our walk of Hadrian’s Wall the next day. Comfortable, clean room, fantastic breakfast all delivered in a relaxed and friendly way. A short walk to the start of Hadrian’s Wall, watched lovely sunsets from here over the sea."

"We came up as a party of 6 on Day 2 of our Hadriens Wall cycle way and although we were quite late in arriving, we were made to feel so welcome with a huge pot of tea and a roaring fire, so needed after cycling in 22 mile an hour winds! The hosts couldn't have been more perfect. The rooms were lovely with everything you could want, hairdryer, kettle, fab toiletries, and comfortable beds! We were all so pleased with everything that Wallsend offered. I cannot stress enough how fab this place was. We had safe cycle storage and a brilliant breakfast, the best of our trip by far and the packup supplied was great too, so, so good. Gets a well worth 5* from us!! Thank you."

"Perfect start to the Hadrian Wall Walk !! Most convenient and pleasant place to start the 'Hadrian Wall Walk'. We advised the staff that we were going to arrive much later than the latest check in time due to our flight being delayed but we were warmly greeted none the less and the pub round the corner was asked to serve us dinner past the last order time!! Bedroom was large and comfortable and the common rooms downstairs were so warm and welcoming. Breakfast before setting off for a challenging five day walk was plentiful and delicious !! "

"What a great place! We started our Hadrian's Wall adventure here and it was wonderful. They have thought of everything from heated boot warmers to foot soak for weary travellers. Breakfast is sumptuous and they allow you to choose your own snacks for the walk. Well done on providing a fantastic place to stay!"

"We stayed for one night while cycling Hadrian's Cycleway. On arrival we were given complimentary cake and coffee which was very welcome after 70 miles of cycling. The room was beautiful, really well equipped with fantastic toiletries and a great ensuite. The breakfast choices were the best I've ever had - I opted for eggs benedict! This B and B is beautiful, the staff were all really friendly and helpful and the quality of the food was outstanding. If you want a luxury B and B with lovely staff and great food this is the place to come! "

"We stayed here after the last day of our Hadrian's Wall walk, and it was a lovely, relaxing place to stay. The staff were really welcoming, with tea on arrival. Rooms looked newly decorated, and were spacious with modern bathrooms, with great toiletries. Breakfast was brilliant, and the B&B has a minibus to take you back to Carlisle if necessary. "

"We stayed at this delightful 5-bedroom guesthouse at the start of our West to East Hadrian"s Wall trek. We arrived later than expected, and were greeted by one of the dogs (the Wallsend is pet friendly) and Lyn getting us coffee, sodas, and a choice of cakes even though the tearoom was closed. It was perfect after 5 hours of driving. The rooms are comfortable, immaculately clean, and all are en suite. Our bathroom was the largest I"ve seen in England and looked to be brand new. Would definitely stay here again "

"Great place. Lovely spotlessly clean, big bedroom with lovely en-suite bathroom. The breakfast was lovely also with lots of choice. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived both times ( we left our car there for the week whilst we walked ) from Alice who made drinks for us. Would totally recommend this guest house, was also impressed with how well the garden is maintained. "

"For those that like an amount of the above let me tell you that this place is a Little Gem, and I'm not talking about lettuce. I don't accept praise, nor do I lavish it on others, but had Wallsend Guest House been our first night instead of our last walking east to west along the trail we would probably not have gone anywhere else. "

"This is my 6th visit to the guesthouse and as always it was a wonderful, relaxing stay. I was staying in the WigWams this visit and the staff could not be more helpful and made sure i had everything i needed. I was there for a week and made full use of the tea rooms and although i wasn't able to try all of the cakes on offer the ones i did try were yummy ! I'll be back again next year. "

"Walking west to east, a couple of pensioners stayed at Wallsend Guest House before tackling the ups and downs of the Hadrian Wall Trail. Our welcome could not have been warmer. Information and advice about the walk was available. And the thought of returning to the comforts of Wallsend sustained us as we trudged through the rain to the other Wallsend before hopping onto a bus back to Bowness-on-Solway. We were pleased to have paced our walk so that we could reach our final b&b at a reasonable hour! Hearty breakfasts, clean rooms, comfortable beds. We hope to return! "

"Absolutely recommended” After 6 days of walking Hadrian's Wall, we arrived at the Wallsend Guesthouse tired and exhausted. We were pleased to received a warm welcome; we were brought tea, coffee and homemade cakes. Room was spacious and well appointed with a good sized bathroom. Breakfast (vegetarians fully catered for) was very good. The environment was relaxed and friendly with the right level of professionalism. We would love to stay again and would recommend to friends and family. "

"This was one of the best nights stay during our walk of Hadrians Wall. Fantastic great room with a welcome bath after 6 days walking. Very quiet location. Staff very friendly. Breakfast very good with a great choice."

"“The Best B & B On The Wall” A close call but this just won a strong race in our opinion. Everything about the accommodation was very good indeed: we had TWO ranges of luxury bath goods, foot lotions etc. Good. extra large fluffy towels. The welcome tea and scones were delicious. The beds were huge and beautifully sheeted and pillowed. The breakfast: wow! The welcome was a genuine Northern understated charm. I wish we could have stayed longer. What a pity that our two nighter was at the other end of the walk. "
